First of all, a very happy New Year to you!

The topic of the New Year and what it holds for us has occupied a large area of my mind these past few weeks as I’ve observed people’s attitudes towards 2017 coming to an end. For instance, I was in two minds about waiting until today, 1 January 2018, to launch my blog rather than when I did, a week ago. This indecisiveness was not only due to fear but also because of the common conception of beginning new ventures only when it’s a new year.

Why wait though? We're too comfortable and it’s human nature to be intimidated by change but we cannot avoid everything if we want to grow and better ourselves. We've become too familiar with our present situations to put ourselves in vulnerable positions where there's room for change that can create opportunities for growth. These possibilities are limitless; we're born to create, explore and gain so why must we restrict our potential with comfort?

We hear the wishes for a better body, a healthier lifestyle, to start a new hobby or just to say sorry, yet we delay any action because we are afraid of failure or rejection. Stop! Act on your feelings and thoughts when you are most compelled to, do not wait because, not only do opportunities disappear, but we are our own worst enemy whenever there’s room for self-doubt. We can’t allow self-discouragement when challenges approach us, we have to take the leap and handle whatever is placed in our paths.

Be mindful that a new year does not bring you luck or better circumstances than the year before. You are completely responsible to make your own changes so if you want better or different then you need to initiate it. What changes are you going to make?
